Starting an Architecture Firm is a book that shares essential information with architects who plan to start their own architecture firm. The book is based on a culmination of ideas from a seminar organized by Tim Ung entitled Planning a Practice where an architect with a successful firm, marketing and branding professional, lawyers, and financial professionals shared their knowledge on best practices for new architecture firms. This book expands on the ideas shared at the seminar and Tim's experience as licensed architect practicing in New York. Every year, I set out on a goal to read at least 25 books - nearly all of which are related to finance, entrepreneurship, personal development, and architecture. Out of all the books I’ve read, here’s a curated selection separated into several categories that I would recommend to you. If you’d like to learn more and/or purchase any of them from Amazon, you can find them by clicking on the book covers shown below.
Books that range from graphic and product design to architecture. I limited the selection of monographs from architecture firms because this list would go on forever.

One of the online accounting services that many creatives use is Freshbooks which offers bookkeeping, invoicing, and tracking services. After one of my friends told me about his experience using Freshbook for his business, I made the decision to use this platform for my leather making company that I'm starting in the Summer of 2018. Check out their services by clicking the button below. As an affiliate and advocate of their services, I hope Freshbooks can help you keep track of your finances, save time, and focus on what you do best; create.
Masterclass provides online classes taught by instructors that are famous for their craft; Serena Williams, Christina Aguilera, Samuel L. Jackson, Herbie Hancock, and many others. So far, I've taken courses on Masterclass taught by Frank Gehry, Gordon Ramsay, and Marc Jacobs. Each of these courses has been fantastic for learning the essentials of architecture, cooking, and fashion design which are all passions of mine. You can learn more about my experience with Frank Gehry's Masterclass by clicking here. I've loved the courses so much that I'm now on the annual subscription plan that provides access to all of the courses on Masterclass and became an affiliate for the company. I hope you can find a course that inspires you!
When an architect is ready to start their own firm, one of the frequently asked questions is, how do I register my business with all of the necessary forms? After researching what it takes to start a business, I realized that there are lots of forms that need to be filled out and coordinated with the city, state, and country where you're registering your business. To save time and ensure that everything has been properly filled out, there's an online service that I'm using to start a business of my own called Legalzoom. They share all of the information that you need to know about the various types of business entities, employee identification number, business licenses, and others. As a customer and affiliate for Legalzoom, I've been pleased by the level of service and support offered by their staff. If you're thinking of starting a business, be sure to visit Legalzoom to see if they can help you save time and money.
Ever since I was 12 years old, I've been nearsighted and needed to get glasses every year. At first, I never knew how expensive glasses were because my parents always purchased them for me. However, once I started buying my own pair of glasses, I realized how difficult it was for me to afford replacements every year. Once I discovered Warby Parker, I've been fascinated with their business model where they provide free home try-on glasses and for every pair you buy, they donate a pair to someone in need. After my fantastic experience with Warby Parker, I decided to become an affiliate for their company because I truly believe in their company's vision (no pun intended).
